INP-Thementage 2026: Developing solutions together for successful energy projects

Two days, a wide range of practical examples and an in-depth exchange of views: the 11th INP Theme Days, held on 24 and 25 September 2026 in Speyer, were held under the theme ‘The Future of Energy: How can projects be successfully implemented in Germany?’. The focus was on concrete solutions and the people who work together to make projects a success.

What is the key to successfully implementing complex energy and infrastructure projects under challenging conditions? This year’s INP Theme Days addressed this question by offering candid insights into project practice. The presentations and discussions highlighted just how varied the challenges can be, and how valuable it is to share experiences and discuss potential solutions together.

A wide range of perspectives from the field

The first day of the event covered topics ranging from the cost-effectiveness of heat supply systems and experiences from a power station project in the heart of Frankfurt to fuel switching, decarbonisation and the coordination of complex construction sites. The discussions focused on both technical and economic issues, as well as on collaboration between the teams involved. On the second day, the discussions continued with topics relating to hydrogen, pumped-storage hydroelectricity, large-scale construction projects and the expansion of the electricity grids.

Practical examples such as Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport, the SuedOstLink and a multi-terminal hub opened up further perspectives on successful project delivery. Reconciling differing interests, as well as site preparation and permit management, were also part of the programme.

The presentations highlighted specific challenges and approaches to overcoming them. This created an opportunity for an open exchange of experiences on what drives planning, approval and implementation forward.

People as a key factor for success

One recurring theme ran through many of the topics: despite all technological progress, people remain a crucial factor in the success of a project. Good solutions emerge where experience and expertise come together, where responsibility is taken, and where everyone involved works together towards a common goal.

This personal exchange characterised the theme days – during the presentations and discussions, as well as in the breaks and at the joint evening event. We are particularly pleased with the positive feedback received regarding the two days.

Thank you for your valuable insights and open discussions. We look forward to the INP Theme Days in 2027.
