Decommissioning of the Rheinhafen Steam Power Plant Karlsruhe

Location: Karlsruhe, Germany

Services: Installation supervision

Industry Branch/Type of Plant: Power Generation, Power plants

Client: EnBW

Tasks

Blocks 1 to 3 of the Rheinhafen steam power plant in Karlsruhe are being decommissioned.
In preparation for the decommissioning of the boiler houses of the blocks, cable connections inside the boiler houses, which are no longer needed, had to be dismantled.
Furthermore, light distributions for the lighting of the heavy construction and the street lighting as well as the associated cable connections had to be installed.

Due to the age of the plant (blocks 1–3 were constructed between 1950 and 1960), the inventory control of no longer needed cables proved to be difficult. INP supported EnBW in the implementation.

INP Services

  • On-site monitoring of the selection of the cable sections to be dismantled
  • Supervision of dismantling work by the assembly company commissioned by EnBW
  • On-site support for the company commissioned by EnBW to deliver and install the new light distributions
  • Support in preparing the service specifications for the delivery of the new light distributors
