The Rothensee waste-to-energy plant in Magdeburg is expanding its capacity with the construction of a third block. With an investment volume of EUR 250 million, a grate combustion plant for commercial and industrial waste and a fluidized bed combustion plant for municipal sewage sludge are being built. This will increase the total capacity of the waste-to-energy plant to over 975,000 tons of waste per year. The new Block 3 comprises two plant areas:
Thermal waste treatment enables efficient energy generation through the recycling of waste materials, supplying households and businesses in Magdeburg with electricity and district heating. In addition, process steam is provided to industrial customers to promote environmentally friendly production.
INP Deutschland GmbH was commissioned with the superstructure and commissioning management for Block 3. This included coordinating construction management and providing support for specialist construction management for turbines, piping, control technology, electrical engineering, and quality assurance.
